Peter Bourque has decommitted from the University of Michigan football program on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The four-star quarterback recruit from Hingham has reopened his recruitment ahead of his senior campaign at Tabor Academy in Marion, as first reported by ESPN college football reporter Pete Thamel and confirmed to The Patriot Ledger by Bourque’s father, Rob.

As a junior last season, the 6-foot-4 Bourque led the Seawolves to an undefeated season and a win in the NEPSAC John Papas Bowl, capturing Mass. Gatorade Player of the Year with passing totals of 2,241 yards and 18 touchdown passes and a rushing output of 688 yards and 15 touchdowns for the season.

247sports tabs Bourque as the 86th-ranked prospect (eighth QB) in the nation in the 2027 class.

Bourque originally committed to Michigan in August, prior to when former Wolverines head coach Sherone Moore was fired for cause in December for allegedly engaging “in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member,” Michigan AD Warde Manuel stated.

Michigan announced the hiring of ex-Utah coach Kyle Whittingham on Dec. 26. Whittingham, 66, signed a five-year deal worth $8.2 million annually.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
