The first round of the TSSAA football playoffs was loaded with standout performers from the Jackson area, especially at running back.
It’s time to vote for the Jackson area’s boys athlete of the week, Nov. 3-Nov. 8. Click on the image below to make your selection. The poll will close at noon on Nov. 13.
Nominees:
JC Gray, Adamsville: Gray had 186 all-purpose yards, which included seven catches for 67 yards as a receiver and four carries for 20 yards and a six-yard rushing touchdown as a rusher. Defensively, he added three tackles, one of which went for a loss. Adamsville lost 41-18 to East Nashville Magnet.
DK Woods, Crockett County: Woods had 15 carries for 264 yards and three rushing touchdowns as well as two receptions for 17 yards in a 28-26 victory over Kirby.
KeAnthony Barbee, Dyer County: Barbee had 16 carries for 255 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-14 victory over Lakeland Prep.
Braylin Dearmon, Huntingdon: Dearmon carried the ball 24 times for 157 yards and a touchdown in a 22-12 victory over Memphis Business Academy.
Amarion Arnold, Lexington: Arnold had 19 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown in a 25-22 victory over Haywood.
Cole Brown, McKenzie: Brown was 16-of-18 passing for 244 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-13 victory over Huntland. He added seven rushes for 52 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Brown had eight tackles and an interception.
Jaydon Peete, Milan: Peete had 13 carries for 117 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in a 37-0 victory over MASE. On defense, he added three tackles, one tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry.
Charles Mulcahy, South Fulton: Mulcahy ran for 122 yards on nine attempts and a touchdown in a 24-6 victory over Westwood. He also threw for a touchdown.
Gabe Lee, Trinity Christian Academy: Lee had six total tackles, including one for loss, and three interceptions in a 55-7 win against Franklin Christian. Offensively, he added three receptions for 67 yards.
Asa Barnes, Westview: Barnes was responsible for 62 yards of total offense and four rushing touchdowns in a 62-0 victory over Hamilton.
