Texas A&M's Case For #1 Ranking Gets Support From Unlikely Coach

The Texas A&M Aggies are 9-0 on the season and ranked behind a pair of Big Ten powers, Ohio State and Indiana, in the latest AP and Coaches’ Poll Rankings.

The Aggies are preparing to face South Carolina this weekend with big stakes against a fellow SEC foe.

On Monday, the SEC’s current top team got support from an unlikely source as Ole Miss Rebels coach Lane Kiffin shared his thoughts on why he believes the Aggies should be number one in all the land.

Kiffin Makes Case for SEC Opponent

Kiffin made his case for the Aggies to be ranked number one in a press conference.

He highlighted their road win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and made an analogy to prospective Vegas neutral field rankings in regards to their case for the top spot.

“Texas A&M being three – What more do you want them to do?” Kiffin said, adding that he believes the Aggies could have scheduled an easy opponent instead of the Irish and would still be ranked in the same place.

Aggies Put Perfect Record on the Line in College Station

The Aggies will put their perfect record on the line in College Station, Texas against coach Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks this Saturday at noon ET.

The Aggies’ last close game occurred on Sept. 27 at home against Auburn and came one week after their thrilling 41-40 victory against the Fighting Irish.

The Aggies have been led by dual threat quarterback Marcel Reed, who has run and passed for over 2,500 yards this season.

Texas A&M has spread the ball around as well as any team in the nation as six players have caught ten or more passes and six rushers have carried the ball more than 20 times.

Kiffin’s assertion that the Aggies have done everything necessary to be ranked number one is one that will likely be well received among TAMU fans.

The SEC is known for sticking together during the regular season and bowl season and Kiffin’s comments have once again demonstrated it.
