No. 3 Texas A&M’s (9-0, 6-0 SEC) 38-17 win over Missouri on Saturday wasn’t just the second consecutive 20-plus point blowout on the road in SEC play, but further proves that the Aggies are a complete team with legitimate National Championship aspirations, with a current 98% chance to make the College Football Playoff per ESPN’s latest FPI update.

Texas A&M’s 17th-ranked offense is built on balance, as starting quarterback Marcel Reed has vastly improved as a passer, throwing for 2,193 yards and 19 touchdowns, combined with 378 rushing yards and six scores through nine games. On the ground, the loss of star running back Le’Veon Moss has not hindered the Aggies’ rushing success, as sophomore Rueben Owens has stepped up in a big way through the last three games.

Averaging over 204 rushing yards per game, Owens has racked up 542 yards on the year thus far. Since his career high of 142 yards during the Aggies’ 31-9 win over Mississippi State, Owens has run for 408 yards and five touchdowns, including 102 yards and two touchdowns against Missouri.

In the second half of Saturday’s win, Texas A&M’s run game exploded, led by Owens’ season-long 57-yard touchdown run, which showed off his elite speed —clocked at 21.5 miles per hour —and was the fastest run by any player on the weekend per Reel Analytics.

Owen’s play is great news for Texas A&M’s future backfield, as Moss’s absence has served as an audition for the sophomore to prove that he should be in line to take over as the lead running back in 2026 after Moss departs for the NFL.
