5-star DB predicted to decommit from Georgia football

The Georgia Bulldogs are predicted to a lose a commitment from five-star cornerback recruit Donte Wright. Rivals predicts that Wright, who has been committed to Georgia since June 2025, will flip to the Oregon Ducks.

Wright is a member of the class of 2027. He ascended into five-star status in Nov. 2025. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback is one of the foundational pieces of Georgia’s class of 2027. The Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart currently have the No. 8 recruiting class in the country including five commitments. Wright is Georgia’s only defensive back commitment, but that is expected to change soon.

Wright plays high school football for Long Beach Poly in Long Beach, California. The five-star may be looking to stay on the West Coast and attend Oregon.

Georgia Bulldogs recruiting news

The Georgia commit is ranked as the No. 30 recruit in the country. Wright is the fifth-ranked cornerback recruit in America and the second-ranked player in California.

If Wright flips to Oregon, then that would be a big blow for Georgia’s recruiting class. The five-star will take an official visit to Georgia from May 29-31. The Long Beach Poly star also has official visits planned with Miami (June 5), UCLA (May 15-17) and Oregon (June 19-21).

Michigan has been named as a school under consideration from Wright, but they should be considered less likely to land Wright until Michigan can get an official visit from the five-star.
