'College GameDay' announces Week 12 location, snubbing SEC football

ESPN’s “College GameDay” is heading to the ACC for Week 12 of the 2025 college football season.

Host Rece Davis, former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban, and fellow analysts Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit will be in Pittsburgh for a top 25 showdown between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Pitt Panthers at Acrisure Stadium.

It’s the second time this year that “GameDay” has visited an ACC location. It traveled to Miami for the Hurricanes’ in-state matchup against the Florida Gators in Week 4 on Sept. 20.

Pittsburgh will be hosting “GameDay” for the fourth time in school history. Saturday will mark the first time Saban has visited Acrisure Stadium (formerly Heinz Field) in an official capacity; he never coached there as a visiting coach while at Alabama, LSU or Michigan State.

Notre Dame (7-2) is ranked No. 9 in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll; Pitt (7-2) is No. 23. Kickoff for Notre-Dame-Pitt is 11 a.m. CT. The game will be televised on ABC.

“College GameDay” begins broadcasting live at 8 a.m. CT each week.

Both Alabama football and the Georgia Bulldogs have a strong case for why each respective school should be hosting “GameDay” instead of SEC Network’s pregame show.

Alabama’s case: the Crimson Tide are facing the Oklahoma Sooners in a top 10 matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama (8-1 overall, 6-0 SEC) is No. 4 in the polls; Oklahoma (7-2, 3-2) climbed two spots to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll and is coming off a 33-27 road win over the Tennessee Volunteers on Nov. 1.

Kickoff for Alabama-Oklahoma is 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ABC.

The stakes for Saturday’s game in Tuscaloosa are huge. A win by Alabama would send the Crimson Tide to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. A loss by Oklahoma would see the Sooners’ College Football Playoff hopes diminish.

Georgia also has good case for hosting ‘College GameDay’

Georgia’s case: like Alabama, the Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1) will be playing in a top 10 matchup Saturday. The resurgent Texas Longhorns (7-2, 4-1) visit Sanford Stadium in a rematch of last year’s SEC title game after picking themselves off the mat following some well-chronicled early season struggles.

Georgia needs some help to reach Atlanta, but the Bulldogs are No. 5 in the polls and CFP rankings. Texas, meanwhile, has gone from being unranked in the AP poll just over a month ago after a 3-2 start to surging back into the top 10. Like their former Big 12 counterpart Oklahoma, Texas needs a win to position itself well for a spot in the 12-team playoff field.

Kickoff for Texas-Georgia is 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

While Alabama and Georgia have both already hosted “College GameDay” this season, it’s not unprecedented for the ESPN crew to visit the same stadium twice in the regular season.
