Michigan football is starting to get its footing underneath it in terms of recruiting, something that's taking some time with not only Kyle Whittingham taking over the program, but a new recruiting staff still being built.
The Wolverines are now set to figure out who they want in forthcoming classes, and among them is 2027 Rocky River (Ohio) four-star safety Tristin Hughes.
The maize and blue offered Hughes after a regional camp in Indianapolis, hosted by The Opening. After receiving his offer, the former Syracuse commit told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong that the Wolverines are now atop his leaderboard. (subscription required)
“Definitely at the top,” Hughes said of where the Maize and Blue stand moving forward.
“Michigan has a great reputation for being a great football school and also a great academic school making them stand out!”
Tyler Stockton gave Hughes the good news. Virginia Tech also extended an offer after the camp.
Hughes is rated highest by Rivals, coming in at No. 248 nationally, regardless of position. He is also the No. 29 safety and 12th-best player in the state of Ohio. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety is considered a three-star according to 247Sports.
