Florida State football will not hold a spring game, head coach Mike Norvell confirmed in his pre-spring practice press conference on Friday, March 6.

This is the second straight season that the Seminoles will not host a spring game or showcase open to the fans.

It’s not uncommon for major college football programs to no longer play spring games. And with the evolution of the transfer portal and Name, Image, and Likeness, programs across the Power 4 level have canceled what was once an annual showpiece event for fans to get a preview of next season’s team.

Norvell enters his seventh season as head coach of the Seminoles program with increased pressure on him after back-to-back sub-.500 seasons and a combined 7-17 record.

FSU will begin spring practice on Monday, March 9, and will conclude on April 15. The Seminoles will hold three scrimmages during that period, with the first set for Saturday, March 28.
