The Oklahoma Sooners are putting on a show during their Future Freaks weekend in Norman. OU’s staff is hosting a number of commits and targets from the 2027 recruiting class and picked up their third commitment of the day when they added four-star safety Jaylen Scott to the class.

Scott joined four-star quarterback Jamison Roberts and three-star offensive lineman Tyson Ross in pledging to the Oklahoma Sooners. OU also became the favorite for the No. 1 tight end in the class, Seneca Driver.

In Scott, the Sooners add a versatile safety to Brent Venables’ defense. He has the ability to play the deep middle of the field in single-high safety formations and has also played outside cornerback. Scott’s a smooth athlete and can track the ball in the air. As is the case with most defensive backs that end up committing to Brent Venables, Scott is a physical player, displaying the ability and willingness to be a force in run support.

Scott is the No. 119 overall player in the class, according to 247Sports and a top 300 player per Rivals. He chose the Sooners over offers from 14 other Power Four schools, including SEC programs like Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Missouri.
