With spring ball now officially underway, you can expect to see reports of recruits taking unofficial visits to Ann Arbor to check out how the Michigan Wolverines are looking under new head coach Kyle Whittingham. In fact, let’s start today’s Recruiting Roundup with a recently-offered prospect that resides in the south that is going to make the trip up north next month.

Four-star WR highly interested in Michigan after getting offer

Michigan offered 2027 four-star wide receiver Deshawn Hall late last week, and despite being an Alabama native, he grew up a fan of the Wolverines and still holds the program near and dear to his heart.

In an interview with The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($), Hall went into detail about getting the offer.

“I got on the phone with wide receiver coach Micah Simon,” Hall said. “I’ve been a Michigan fan all my life. My dad is actually from Michigan, so it was just a great blessing! We didn’t get to into too much detail yet with this being our first phone call, but he just expressed his interest in me. He also talked about my game, gave me a little background of himself, and we talked about me getting up there for spring.”

It didn’t take long for him to schedule that aforementioned spring visit, as the 6-foot-6, 190-pounder has already locked in his first visit to Ann Arbor for April 4. He has official visits scheduled for Clemson, Penn State, Auburn and Tennessee for the summer, but the Wolverines could work one in following a successful visit next month.

“I am greatly interested in Michigan,” Hall said. “I can’t wait to get up there and learn more about the program from a player standpoint. I love the atmosphere on Saturdays! It’s electric in the Big House.

“Definitely want to get to know more and build relationships with the coaches, but they’re definitely top-10 right now.”

Three-star LB set to visit Michigan twice

The Wolverines will soon be playing host to a plethora of recruits this spring, and one of them is 2027 three-star linebacker Brayden Watson. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is from Buford, Georgia and plays at the historic Buford High School. He already had offers from top programs like Oregon and USC, but the new Michigan staff, led by linebackers coach Alex Whittingham, offered him back in January and vaulted the Wolverines up his list.

“It meant a lot, for sure,” Watson told On3’s McDowell ($). “It was definitely a surprising one. I was not expecting them. I didn’t even know I was really on their radar. I just had coach Alex Whittingham call me while I was at school, so I just stepped out to have the phone call with him for 5 or 10 minutes, got the offer, and it was a great conversation. They’re definitely a school that I’m very interested in, for sure.”

The interest is so strong, in fact, that Watson has locked in two upcoming visits to Ann Arbor — one for an unofficial visit on April 9, and an official visit the weekend of June 19. He’ll also be making those two trips with his fellow high school teammate and Michigan target, 2027 four-star linebacker Ethan Hauser, who we spoke about on Monday’s Recruiting Roundup.

That is the only official visit that Watson has on the docket thus far for the summer, and it isn’t hard to see why that’s the case.

“Very early to say, but they’re definitely at the top of my list,” Watson said. “One of my favorites so far.”

Quick Hitters
