Texas A&M’s future running back room will be determined by the transfer portal and coach Mike Elko’s ability to out-recruit the likes of Texas and others for top prospects in the 2027 and 2028 recruiting cycles, but so far, the Aggies have done an impressive job locking down elite RB commitments in the last two signing classes, headlined by freshman KJ Edwards.

Focusing on the 2027 class, the Aggies received a prediction to land five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis, considered one of, if not the top RB prospect in the cycle, and made his way to College Station back on October 4 for an unofficial visit. Yet to schedule an official visit with Elko and his staff, Texas A&M remains a slight favorite, along with Alabama and others, to land the blue-chip recruit.

On Tuesday, Williams-Callis released his top 15 program list, which further proves that his final decision will likely come later in the year after visiting nearly every school that made the cut. Texas A&M joins USC, LSU, SMU, Michigan, Florida State, Indiana, UCLA, Houston, Missouri, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Florida, and Oregon.

Williams-Callis is one of the top running back prospects for good reason, already rushing for 4,049 yards and 66 touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore seasons at Randle HS in Richmond (TX), including 2,103 yards and 43 touchdowns during his 2024 junior campaign. In 2025, his success continued, rushing for 3,502 rushing yards and 59 touchdowns on 10.8 yards per carry.

More background: Williams-Callis is the cousin of former Oregon State and NFL running backs Jacquizz and James Rogers. At the same time, his uncle is a former Colorado State standout and All-Pro safety Michael Lewis.

According to Rivals, Williams-Callis is currently positioned as the 43rd-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 4-ranked running back, and the seventh-ranked prospect in Texas.
