It has been a while since Notre Dame football got its last 2027 commitment, and that could be changing on Saturday.
California athlete Honor Fa’alave-Johnson will make his decision with six hats on the table: Miami, USC, Texas, LSU, Oregon and the Irish. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 190-pounder is ranked as the No. 16 overall prospect in his class by the 247Sports Composite, as he’s the highest ranked athlete in the country.
He trimmed his list down to those six schools last month, and will not take official visits before making a decision, with did schedule multiple spring visits that he may or may not take. Fa’alave-Johnson took an unofficial visit to South Bend this past September, and did the same to see the Trojans. At this point in time, you’d have to believe that the two former rivals are at the top of his list.
Unfortunately for Notre Dame, it looks like USC is the frontrunner, as there are multiple reports that he’s leaning towards staying home to play in college. Hopefully those rumors aren’t true, and Fa’alave-Johnson joins the Irish instead.
