Former North Carolina Tar Heel wide receiver Ryan Switzer is climbing up the coaching ranks following his college and NFL career.

While at North Carolina, Switzer was a standout for the Tar Heels and then played in the NFL. After that, he opted to enter the coaching ranks, and now he's quickly climbing it. The Oregon Ducks have announced their coaching staff for the 2026 season and Switzer has been hired as an offensive assistant.

This comes after he spent a few years at Tulsa serving as wide receivers coach, recruiting coordinator, interim head coach, and passing game coordinator.

This is a big step up in the coaching ranks for Switzer, who now joins an Oregon program that has been in the College Football Playoff the past few years. He gets to learn under Dan Lanning who has become one of the best coaches in the country as well.

During his time at North Carolina, Switzer had 2,912 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. He left as the best punt returner in program history, tying the NCAA single-season record with five return touchdowns as a freshman. He was named a two-time First-Team All-American in 2013 and 2015.
