One of the best players in recent UNC football history will not be attending any Tar Heels games in 2026.
Marquise Williams, a standout quarterback at UNC, was a two-time All-ACC player for the Tar Heels. He starred in Chapel Hill in 2014 and '15. Williams went on to play in the NFL in 2016 before playing in the Canadian Football League.
But Williams isn't happy with the state of UNC's program.
Williams took to X, formerly known as Twitter, this week. He made it clear that he is refusing to attend any UNC football games in 2026.
"I will not be attending any UNC football games this year! The things I’m hearing man I would have never thought💔," he wrote.
Some UNC fans took issue with Williams' comment, saying that he could go about things in a better way.
"There’s a way to go about this. You can disagree with way things going or whatever it might be. But don’t sabotage the very same school and program that gave you a chance. Especially in such a vague way. If you got something on your chest jut say it champ," one fan wrote.
Williams responded: "Shut up!"
Fans saddened by what's happening at UNC
"This is…concerning," one fan wrote.
"This dude literally left it on the field for UNC. But when you hire people who don’t really give a (expletive) about UNC…well…" one fan added.
"Well we knew when Bill was hired some feathers would be ruffled," one fan added.
