Kentucky lands Owensboro linebacker Ty Ashley in 2027 recruiting class

Kentucky Football stayed in-state for its latest recruiting win.

Three-star linebacker Ty Ashley, out of Owensboro, announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Thursday while visiting Lexington for a spring visit. The news was first reported by recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett.

Ashley chose Kentucky over several notable programs, including Notre Dame, Penn State, Indiana, Wisconsin, Louisville, Missouri, West Virginia, and Cincinnati, giving the Wildcats an early addition to their 2027 recruiting class.

The 6-2, 200-pound linebacker plays at Owensboro High School and has quickly developed into one of the top defensive prospects in the state.

According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Ashley is currently listed as the No. 1,010 overall prospect in the country and the No. 46 linebacker in the 2027 class.

Ashley has pointed to Kentucky’s coaching staff and the direction of the program as major reasons behind his decision.

During previous visits to Lexington, he spoke highly of the energy around the program and the relationships he has built with the coaching staff.

Ashley has already put together impressive production during his high school career, totaling 148 tackles, a number that has helped attract attention from several college programs across the region.

His commitment gives Kentucky another early piece in the 2027 recruiting class as the Wildcats continue to focus on keeping top talent from the Commonwealth at home.

For Kentucky, landing Ashley means securing one of the top linebackers in the state and continuing the program’s emphasis on versatile defenders who can fly around the field and make plays.

And for now, the Wildcats have kept another talented in-state prospect right here in Kentucky.
