Ohio State sends out bevy of new offers during another big time spring visit opportunity

Plenty of new offers going out this week, Ohio State dished one out to one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2027 class.

A Connecticut native, Marvin Nguetsop is a new players on Ohio State’s radar. His size alone reason enough, the 6-foot-7, 270 pound defensive line target has incredible length, and the Buckeyes are clearly interested after offering Nguetsop in-person while he was visiting on Thurday.

The No. 383 player nationally and 45th best defensive lineman in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite, the Buckeyes join the likes of 20-plus other programs to enter the mix for his services. Schools such as Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, and more have taken notice, but his latest trek to Columbus now adds Ohio State.

Following his visit, Nguestop made it known that the Buckeyes quickly move into his consideration. Stating Ohio State is now definitely, “high on his list,” meeting with the staff and specifically Larry Johnson looks to have paid off in multiple ways.

2028 Louisiana native earns OSU offer

Carlos Locklyn is staying plenty busy this spring, as the running back coach is breaking in his new players on the field while also paying plenty of attention to the future of his position room with his recruiting efforts. Offering new players he deems worthy of being Buckeyes, new names will be added to the prospect list, and Thursday one of the latest came to light.

Making headlines in Louisiana on Thursday, Ohio State offered 2028 running back prospect Caiden Bellard. A 5-foot-10, 190 pound athlete, Bellard is not yet ranked via his 247Sports profile, but does hold double-digit offers to his name. Schools to be involved early in the mix include the likes of Florida State, Houston, LSU, TCU and a host of other smaller programs.

The Buckeyes now among the interested programs to reach out, it’s likely to see the domino effect take off with more schools to follow suit. Getting in with Bellard this early into his recruitment should only help Ohio State’s chances if they go for the full pursuit.

Having some good fortune in Louisiana lately, it looks as if the staff will try their luck once again.

Pair of 2028 prospects receive good news from the Buckeyes

Two more new offers from Thursday, the Buckeyes also gave the good news to 2028 defensive lineman Andrae Maddox. A recruitment that looks ready to take off, Ohio State joins a small handful of other schools such as Auburn, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M to pull the trigger on giving the stamp of approval.

A 6-foot-2, 265 pound athlete out of Mississippi, Maddox is another player that has yet to receive a ranking via his 247Sports profile, but if top schools such as Ohio State continue to give attention and offer, then it’s just a matter of time before that status correlates with the teams taking notice of his talents.

Moving to the offensive side of the ball and staying in the 2028 class, Ohio State receivers coach Cortez Hankton made his latest offer on Thursday as well when Brandon Jefferson shared the latest recruiting update via his social media. Making the visit to Columbus this week, Jefferson leaving with good news makes the trek well worth his time and now has Ohio State firmly in his mind moving forward.

A 6-foot-1, 180 pound receiver, Jefferson is the No. 174 player nationally and 31st best receiver per the 247Sports Composite grades. Just one of a few players to hear from the newly named position coach for Ohio State, Hankton is putting his putting his own touches on the Buckeyes.

Quick Hits

The Buckeyes found their name once again on a top school list, this time by way of Florida native Jamar Thompson. A four-star defensive lineman, Thompson’s 6-foot-3, 305 pound profile owns nearly 30 offers to his name, and is now to down just four.

The No. 177 player nationally and 19th best at his position per the 247Sports Composite, Thompson kept Auburn, Miami, Michigan, and Ohio State in the running.
