As the Texas Longhorns look to improve their 2027 class, they have turned their attention to San Antonio native Brayden Booth. The four-star prospect is one of the best EDGE players left and received an offer from Texas earlier this week. Now focus for Steve Sarkisian and his staff is to secure a commitment from the future star.
While adding Booth to the mix would give the Longhorns a boost, they are not the only program in the mix. During the recruiting process, the South Antonio High product has received offers from Baylor, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU, SMU, and Texas Tech. That list should continue to grow the longer Booth is on the market.

The heavy interest in Booth comes as no surprise, given how he is viewed by scouts. Currently, he is ranked as the 19th best EDGE in the 2027 class by 247Sports. They also rank Booth as the 33rd-best player from Texas and the 211th-best player in his class.
Although Booth still has some room to grow, he has made the most of his playing time. That started during his sophomore campaign when he recorded 35 total tackles in seven games. He also had seven tackles for a loss and one sack. Since that season, he has continued to improve his game.

If the Longhorns secure a commitment from Booth, they would add him to a highly regarded class. The Longhorns have already secured commitments from six players. That includes two four-star recruits in wide receiver Easton Royal and EDGE Cameron Hall. They are expected to be key pieces in the Longhorns national title chase.
Over the next few weeks, Texas will be a program to watch as Booth weighs his options. The next step for Sarkisian will be to get Booth to campus for a visit so he can see what his future as a Longhorn may hold.
