Texas Tech football lands edge defender from Big 12 rivals' backyard

The Texas Tech football team added to its 2027 recruiting class on Friday, March 13, picking up a commitment from an out-of-state defensive player.
Brody Pfannenstiel, an edge defender from Hoisington, Kansas, told the Rivals recruiting service he’s pledged to the Red Raiders. Pfannenstiel, listed by his school as 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, has been offered scholarships by a dozen other schools in Power Four conferences, according to recruiting services, including Big 12 members Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and Utah.
The others who have offered him a scholarship are Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.
According to On3 Sports, Pfannenstiel was an all-state selection as a junior this past season, getting credit for 54 tackles, 4 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.
According to 247Sports, Pfannenstiel was credited with 40 tackles, including 8 tackles for loss and 7 sacks his high-school freshman season. As a sophomore, he was credited with 51 tackles with 9 tackles for loss and 6 sacks.
Texas Tech has five commitments for its 2027 recruiting class. The other four are Palestine Westwood quarterback Kavian Bryant (6-2 1/2, 180), Humble Summer Creek wide receiver Benny Easter Jr. (6-0, 200), Cedar Hill defensive lineman Jalen Brewster (6-3, 302) and DeSoto defensive lineman K’Adrian Redmond (6-3, 305).
