Georgia football didn’t budge in the new College Football Playoff rankings after the top six teams all won after the initial top 25 reveal a week earlier.

The 12-person selection committee on Tuesday Nov. 11, kept Georgia at No. 5 after its 41-21 win at Mississippi State, a game where the Bulldogs reeled off 38 straight points.

Georgia (8-1) will have a chance to get two more quality wins starting Saturday when it faces CFP No. 10 Texas (7-2) in a 7:30 p.m. game in Sanford Stadium.

Bulldog offensive tackle Monroe Freeling said earlier Tuesday he sometimes check on where Georgia lands in the CFP rankings.

“You can take a look at them, but you know kind of focus on the game ahead of you,” Freeling said. “The rankings are rankings but I don’t really concern myself much with them.”

Georgia is in good shape to make the 12-team playoff if it wins two of its final three games.

Georgia has another top 20 opponent remaining on the schedule, as Georgia Tech is at No. 16 in this week’s rankings. The in-state rivals play on Nov. 28.

How many teams in College Football Playoff 2025?

The playoff expanded from a four-team to 12-team field in 2024. Unlike last season, the four highest ranked teams will be slotted as the top four seeds regardless of conference. The Big Ten or SEC champion and runner-up could all be in the top four. If any of the five highest ranked conference champions aren’t in the top 12, they will be seeded at the bottom of the bracket.

When next College Football Playoff rankings come out

The second CFP rankings will be revealed during the top 25 rankings show on Tuesday Nov. 18, at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN.
