The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs host the No. 10 Texas Longhorns in a pivotal SEC game on Saturday, Nov. 15. Texas is coming off their second bye week of the season while Georgia beat Mississippi State 41-21 in the Dawgs’ last outing.
Georgia (8-1, 6-1 SEC) plays Texas (7-2, 4-1) in Athens in a rematch of the 2024 SEC championship game. UGA won both meetings with Texas last season. Georgia’s defense bullied Texas en route to 30-15 win in Austin last October. The Bulldogs won the 2024 SEC championship 22-19 on a Trevor Etienne overtime rushing touchdown.
The 2025 edition of Georgia-Texas is another high-stakes contest between the two SEC powerhouses. Texas can’t afford another loss, which would be a devastating blow to their College Football Playoff hopes. Georgia needs to win to remain in the SEC championship hunt.
“We got a big matchup, a lot of respect for Sark (Texas coach Steve Sarkisian),” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said ahead of the Texas game. “He’s become a good friend of mine. He does a tremendous job. He’s at one of the premier programs in the country. He’s been successful everywhere he’s been. He’s done a great job and I enjoy his friendship and look forward to another great matchup on Saturday night.”
The Georgia-Texas game will be televised on ABC. Kirk Herbstreit (analyst), Chris Fowler (play-by-play), Holly Rowe (sideline) and Laura Rutledge (sideline) will serve as ABC’s commentator team.
