Noles News: ESPN’s FPI gives FSU 73.1% chance at earning bowl eligibility

FSU, favored by 13.5 points this weekend against Virginia Tech, is on a quest to secure bowl eligibility after seeing all its other season goals fly out the window while losing five of its last six games. ESPN’s FPI gives Florida State a 73.1% chance at doing so — ESPN has dropped the Seminoles from its bowl projections, however, with The Athletic still predicting FSU will play in the Gasparilla Bowl (facing off against Memphis) as well as USA Today (against Tulane).

Basketball

FSU men’s basketball lost a close one to Florida on the road on Tuesday, taking the defending national champions down to the wire and coming up just short in an upset bid:

FSU women’s hoops (2-1) will take on Nicholls State (1-1) today at 11 a.m.:

The Seminoles and Colonials will be meeting for the first time in series history, as FSU will play in its fourth game over a 10-day span.

The game will air on the ACC Network Extra with Aryia Massoudi and Genesis Bryant on the call. The Seminole Sport Network will air on 96.5 The Spear with Jack Kavovit and Melissa Bruner.

Last time out, Florida State fell at No.1/1 UConn 99-67 on Sunday as three players scored in double figures.

Sole Williams, who has led the team in scoring in each of the first three games, contributed 14 points, while Jasmine Shavers and Allie Kubek each had 11.

Both Shavers and Kubek were 3-of-5 from three, as the Seminoles sank 12 three-pointers, the most this season. It was the fifth-highest total in program history and second-most against a ranked team behind making 13 against No. 11 Tennessee on Nov. 9, 2023.
