Texas vs Georgia Prediction: Massive Showdown for the CFP and SEC Race
NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...
If Alabama and Texas A&M win out, that’s it.
That’s the SEC Championship, and that means Texas is out because it plays the Aggies. But if the Crimson Tide lose to Oklahoma – that will be finishing up as this is rolling – then, all of a sudden, this becomes the biggest game in the SEC season – for now.
You got all that? Okay, let’s make it easier.
If Alabama loses to Oklahoma – or to Auburn to end the regular season – then Georgia goes to the SEC Championship if it wins this.
If Texas wins and beats Arkansas, then the battle with Texas A&M is for a spot in the conference title game. The Longhorns, though, will still have work to do to get into the College Football Playoff if they win. They have to win out to be assured of a spot.
If Georgia wins, that locks it up. It’s not going to lose to Charlotte, so it’ll 99.91% certain to be in the CFP no matter what happens against Georgia Tech.
Now, blow all of that off and enjoy. This should be a whale of a game.

Why Texas Will Win
Shhhhhhhhhh, Texas has won five straight because it figured out how to get the job done.
It’s a flawed team. It’s painfully inconsistent, doesn’t run well, and you never know if you’re getting good Arch or bad Arch. But it’s winning.
It got out alive against Kentucky, roared against Mississippi State, and woke up just in time to slink by Vanderbilt.
Georgia has been the find-a-way team, but Texas is starting to do it a bit better.
What’s the steadying factor? The defensive front is eating up everyone.
Texas is No. 1 in the nation in sacks, second against the run, and Georgia needs to run to win. Texas should keep quarterback Gunner Stockton from taking off and doing anything big, but …
Why Georgia Will Win
Texas plays like it’s trying to invent ways to come as close as possible to losing, without blowing it.
Elite teams don’t go to overtime against Kentucky and Mississippi State. Yes, the Longhorns were great against Oklahoma, but to be honest, that had a whole lot to do with Sooner quarterback John Mateer being banged up and off.
Can Georgia take the offense to the Longhorns and make them push?
More to the point, can it make Arch Manning win this?
Texas was great on the ground against UTEP, and Sam Houston, and San Jose State. It wasn’t good against Kentucky, got stuffed by Florida, and couldn’t move against Mississippi State – two overtime games and a loss.
Georgia isn’t playing up to its overall talent, but teams aren’t able to run on the line. Now, can the Bulldogs keep up the intensity for a full 60 minutes? Or …
Texas vs Georgia Prediction, Betting Lines
Georgia is getting better and better, while Texas is survive-and-advance.
How do you beat this Bulldog bunch? Throw really, really well, and so it’s all on 16.
Tennessee’s Joey Aguilar bombed away on the Dawgs and almost pulled out the win. Ty Simpson was brilliant in Alabama’s win. As it turned out, those were the two best days by any quarterback against Georgia this season.
Arch Manning has been fantastic over the last two games against Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. With no Georgia pass rush to bother him, he’ll be terrific, and now the tables will turn.
The rest of the Longhorns will let him down.
It’ll take a little while for this to get going, but when it does … BOOM.
