BATON ROUGE – LSU football standout linebacker Whit Weeks was not seen practicing with the rest of his teammates to kick off spring practice Tuesday morning.
First-year LSU coach Lane Kiffin told reporters following the first team’s session of the spring that Weeks will ramp up to more activity as the spring schedule progresses.
“Whit will continue to do more as we get going through spring and be cleared for more stuff,” Kiffin said.
Weeks is still making his way back from a broken ankle he suffered during the 2025 season. He missed four total games and, when he returned to the field, was limited in his snap count and how much he was able to do during games.
He sat out the Texas Bowl to close last season. At the time of his injury in the Ole Miss game, Weeks was LSU defense’s leading tackler.
Weeks finished last season with 31 tackles, including one sack, three tackles-for-loss and one fumble recovery.
The junior linebacker could’ve elected to enter his name in the 2026 NFL Draft, but opted to return to school for one final year under Kiffin, his new head coach and interestingly enough the father of his girlfriend, Landry.
