Holland Christian lineman Hayden Fee took a big step in his football career during his senior season – and coaches at the next level took notice.
But Fee wanted to stay close to home – and play for a strong program.
He found both in his hometown, committing to play football at Hope College.
“I chose Hope for a few reasons,” Fee said. “The first reason being the amazing and prestigious coaching staff that they have there. I love coach (Peter) Stuursma and how supportive he is. He definitely showed me that he wants me there and that’s a great feeling. I would also say that I chose Hope because of their rich history in their program and how successful they have been. I’m excited to know that I’m going to a place that is going to win games. Also, I know some guys on the team who have all had great experiences there and that makes me want to go there even more.”
Hope has made the NCAA Division III playoffs the past three seasons and won the program’s first-ever playoff game two years ago, then repeated the feat last year.
Fee said he hopes to study engineering or exercise science.
“I’m not just going there to be an athlete, being a student comes first. … The opportunity is amazing for me and I feel very blessed,” Fee said. “I thank God for providing me with it and am very thankful for my parents and all of my supporters. Playing college football has been a dream for me since I was 7 years old and it is crazy to me that my dream is coming true.”
