Expectations are high for Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers in 2026.
After making the biggest hire of the offseason, the expectation is that Kiffin will deliver instant results this fall.
Anything less than a trip to the College Football Playoff will be considered a failure for the Tigers.
CBS Sports predicts which games LSU will win and lose in 2026
The good news for LSU is that CBS Sports is predicting the Tigers to finish the 2026 regular season with a record that could be good enough to earn a bye in the College Football Playoff.
CBS Sports has LSU going 11-1 with wins against Clemson, Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M, McNeese, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
The only game that CBS Sports thinks the Tigers will lose is a road matchup against Ole Miss (a game that will have plenty of eyes on it).
“No first-year coach will face more pressure to perform in 2026 than Lane Kiffin,” wrote CBS Sports’ John Talty. “But even with a challenging slate, I like Lane and Co. to deliver in a big way. LSU stockpiled talent this offseason, headlined by Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt and Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton. There are a few toss up type games that could swing the season but the Tigers should be playoff contenders.”
LSU will open the 2026 season on September 5 with a matchup against Clemson in Baton Rouge.
