The Oregon Ducks suffered a big loss to their 2027 recruiting class on Saturday when four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder flipped his pledge from the Ducks to the rival USC Trojans.

Fielder, the No. 81 recruit nationally and No. 10 offensive tackle in the 2027 class, per 247 Sports, had been committed to the Ducks since February 1. However, a couple of recent visits to USC, not far from where he stars at Servite High School, swayed his decision toward the Trojans.

That was the second win of the week for USC over the Ducks on the recruiting trail after landing four-star cornerback Danny Lang on Thursday, and the Trojans made sure to rub it in with a couple of shots fired at the Ducks on social media.

As for the Ducks, their recruiting class has taken a dip in the rankings. When Oregon secured a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Zane Rowe, the Ducks’ 2027 class leaped to No. 8 nationally, per 247 Sports. Now, with just five commitments and without Fielder, the Ducks have fallen to No. 17 nationally and fifth in the Big Ten. The Ducks trail Nebraska, Washington, USC and Ohio State within the conference.

Rowe remains the top commitment in Oregon’s class, but there are still many recruits the Ducks are involved with that could improve the class quickly. Specifically, the Ducks are hoping to lock down a commitment from a quarterback soon while targeting a couple of top recruits.

The Ducks are planning to secure more visits from their priority targets during spring practice and in advance of the spring game on April 25. This is the first time in a while that the Ducks have felt some resistance from the Trojans when recruiting in the Los Angeles area, but there are still many opportunities for the Ducks to bounce back before the spring is over.
