When the 2026 football season begins former Washington Huskies offensive coordinator Jimmie Dougherty will still reside in the Emerald City as an offensive assistant for Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald.
According to a report from the NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero on Friday, the former Missouri quarterback will join the Super Bowl champions as an offensive assistant, adding another experienced offensive mind to Macdonald and new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury's operation.
Dougherty, 47, is a longtime college coach with previous stops at Michigan, San Diego, San Jose State, UCLA and UW, but he’s never coached at the NFL level over his 24-year coaching career.
Last offseason the ex-Huskies assistant was reportedly considering a jump to the professional ranks, but instead stayed for a promotion to become Jedd Fisch's offensive coordinator after Brennan Carroll left to join his father as an assistant with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Seahawks are hiring Jimmie Dougherty as an offensive assistant, per sources.

With the title of offensive assistant, it's unlikely the role will pay more than the $1.1 million Dougherty was scheduled to make in 2026. In February, it was reported that Dougherty and UW parted ways, with Fisch offering his thanks on social media after working together at Michigan, UCLA and Arizona prior to the past two seasons in Seattle.
"I have worked with Jimmie Dougherty for 7 years and am appreciative for his many contributions to our success as an offense and as a team. I want to thank Jimmie and wish him all the best in the future," the UW coach wrote in a post on social media on February 17, just over a year after Fisch named him offensive coordinator.
UW lost several other assistant coaches this offseason, but none of its 10 full-time assistants aside from Dougherty are no longer with the program, which is a significant amount of continuity returning for 2026 with Fisch still holding the duties of offensive play-caller.
In addition to Dougherty the Huskies saw quality control coaches Kirkland Parker (defensive backs), Caleb Wilson (wide receivers) and Greg Froelich (special teams) leave for full-time coaching opportunities at North Texas, Colorado State and Bowling Green respectively.
Only Froelich's special teams position has been publicly filled with UW hiring ex-Utah State analyst Brett Arkelian as a special teams analyst to work with special teams coordinator Chris Petrilli. J.P. Losman, an assistant quarterbacks coach last season, has been promoted to full-time quarterbacks coach with senior offensive assistant Matt Cavanaugh also joining the staff as an additional voice in the room for Fisch when it comes to offensive game prep and strategy.
