The BYU Cougars football program has landed its first commitment from the Class of 2027, and that pledge comes from a prospect in the state of Utah.

On Monday, Mountain Ridge athlete Tytan DeJong announced his commitment to the Cougars on social media.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, DeJong plays tight end and outside linebacker for Mountain Ridge.

As a junior in 2025, he tallied 1,057 receiving yards with nine touchdowns on offense and 30 tackles and two interceptions on defense.

For his efforts, he received First Team All-State honors from the Deseret News.

According to 247 Sports, DeJong also holds scholarship offers from Utah, Michigan, Stanford, Cal and Purdue, along with several other Group of Five schools in the West.
