Penn State head coach Matt Campbell has been working tirelessly to revamp the football program, essentially having to craft an entirely new roster and set up a vastly different recruiting board. He successfully landed his first commitment of the 2027 class a few days ago, getting three-star cornerback Semajay Robinson to verbally agree to come to Happy Valley next year.

While it was a huge step in the right direction, there is still a ton of work to be done to set the team up for success beyond this year. Campbell and his staff have hosted numerous high-school prospects at their spring practices in the last week and have reportedly made significant headway with a number of them. They had three-star edge rusher Arthur Jones at the facility over the weekend, and there is no agreement in place just yet, but he announced that the Nittany Lions re-offered him during his visit.

Penn State only has one player, Robinson, who is guaranteed to join them after 2026, but they have re-offered a number of recruits who were affected by James Franklin’s firing last season and are considered strong contenders to land a bunch more. Campbell seems to be doing a great job selling the school to the high-schoolers, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see some more commitments in the coming weeks and months.
