Injury News Emerges on Georgia Quarterback Gunner Stockton

Gunner Stockton got the thumbs-up in 2025 as Georgia Bulldogs' starting quarterback. He produced 2,894 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions, taking Athens to a near-perfect season with one loss against the Alabama Crimson Tide during regular games and one to the Ole Miss Rebels in the playoffs.

Before his second season as the starter, early spring practice revealed bad news for the senior signal-caller. He was observed with "a brace over his right knee and carried a noticeable limp," per Jeremy Johnson of Rivals.

The injury was sustained during the first two weeks of spring workouts andhe is progressing quite well, per head coach Kirby Smart.

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton (14) looks on after a game.

“He’s great,” Smart told reporters on Tuesday. “He’s practicing. He had a little off-season injury in our workouts, but he’s fine now. He was limited a little bit the first couple of days. But he’s out there competing, doing a good job, focusing on the things he needs to improve on and competing with those other guys.”

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound star also scored 10 times while rushing, with 462 yards in 129 carries. He joined the Bulldogs back in 2023, but remained on the sidelines for the first two years. He has not declared for the draft yet. Stockton plans on improving his draft stock for next year by putting two years of good collegiate experience under his belt.

“I got to just relax a little bit for about a week or so, and then we got back into working out and just getting back at it,” Stockton said, describing his offseason. “But definitely being able to take your mind off football is a big part, and I got to be a little more efficient, so I really enjoyed that.”
