Patton was brought in three years ago as an intriguing multi-sport athlete, having played basketball in high school. That versatility shone through on the football field too, with Patton taking snaps at quarterback and wide receiver as well as safety. He chose Iowa State over some other notable schools, like UCLA and Iowa, and now will make the move to Penn State along with his head coach.
Career Stats
Patton appeared in 34 games across his three seasons with the Cyclones. He accumulated 79 total tackles, 1.5 of which were for a loss, along with four interceptions.
Depth Chart Overview
Patton struggled to find the field much at Iowa State in a crowded safety room, but he has a chance to make a name for himself with the Nittany Lions. The position group is thin here at Penn State after a handful of safeties transferred and Zakee Wheatley, the leader of the group, left for the draft. Patton should be squarely in play for a significant role this year.
Random Fact
Along with playing quarterback and wide receiver in high school, Patton also led his team in rushing back in 2021 with 548 yards and seven touchdowns.
