De Silva and her husband, David Craig, have been married for nine years and have two children.
“Real Housewives of New York” star Sai De Silva and her husband, David Craig, may be headed for divorce.
The news of the split comes today as Craig filed for divorce in New York City early on Thursday (April 2). The “Real Housewives of New York” star has not yet submitted a response, according to People Magazine.
Craig and De Silva met in 2009 in Costa Rica, while she was on a “girls trip” and he was travelling for work, according to a blog De Silva posted about their meet-cute. After years of long-distance dating, they had two children, a daughter, London, 14, and a son, Rio, 8, before tying the knot in 2017.
De Silva joined the cast of “RHONY” in its fourteenth season, following a decision by Bravo to reboot the show entirely. The network replaced its previous cast members, some of whom had been on the show since its first season in 2008, due to the poor response and poor ratings the thirteenth season received. Original cast members Luann de Lesseps and Ramona Singer were accused by viewers of being racist to their Black co-star, Eboni K. Williams, the first Black cast member in “RHONY” history. Behind the scenes, internal human resources investigations of the two’s racist off-camera comments also reportedly played a part in the network’s decision.
In an attempt to rectify the show’s lack of diversity issue, the new cast of “RHONY” featured several women of color, including De Silva, who is Afro-Puerto Rican, Jessel Taank, and Ubah Hassan. De Silva built a career as an influencer and content creator, and grew a following through her lifestyle blog, “Scout The City,” and shared her work on the show, along with her story as a born-and-raised Brooklynite and her difficult relationship with her deceased mother, who battled addiction. Craig has been featured on “RHONY,” but De Silva has said before that he likes his privacy.
Unfortunately, the fresh faces of the new cast did not turn ratings around, and after two seasons of the reboot, Bravo decided to, once again, recast “RHONY” for its sixteenth season. De Silva, Taank, and their co-star Erin Lichy are confirmed to return to the show with some new additions: Hailey Glassman, Erika Hammond, and Daisy Toye. Carole Radziwill, a Housewife of the old “RHONY” era, will also return as a “friend of” rather than a full-time cast member.
De Silva and Craig’s split is just the latest example of what many Bravo fans know as the Housewife-to-divorce pipeline, in which many of the franchise’s stars have ended their marriage after joining “The Real Housewives.” One of the more recent high-profile divorces was that of Kandi Burruss, who just finalized her divorce settlement with Todd Tucker, whom she met and married while she was a cast member on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
