The Cleveland Browns are set to enter another season with a quarterback battle. This year, it looks like it will be between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson. And ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, Watson is already working out and throwing to the top receivers on the Browns’ roster.

In a video posted by Watson’s quarterback coach, Quincy Avery, Watson is seen throwing to wide receivers Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond, and Jamari Thrash. This is typically something that Watson has done, bringing out the receivers on the roster to breed familiarity and rapport before everyone gets back in the building.

Who has the edge in Browns’ QB competition?

This quarterback competition is set to be an ugly one. General manager Andrew Berry has also stated that he wants to bring a young quarterback into the fold as well. This could be through a trade for a young, athletic quarterback like Anthony Richardson Jr. or Will Levis. This could also mean taking a shot on yet another rookie, like Alabama’s Ty Simpson (who they have spent a ton of time with this offseason).

It’s truly hard to tell who has the edge right now, as none of these quarterbacks have ever played a snap in new head coach Todd Monken’s offense. However, Monken has spoken on the need for an athletic quarterback, and that could favor the once-elite Watson. Owner Jimmy Haslam has stated that Watson gets a fresh start under a new head coach, so we’ll see how this plays out.
