The rumors surrounding Dabo Swinney’s future at Clemson are starting to get louder.
Swinney has been leading Clemson’s football team since 2009. He’s a two-time national champion with 184 wins. The reality though is his program has severely underachieved this season. Despite having championship expectations, the Tigers are 4-5 heading into this weekend.
After suffering a 46-45 loss to Duke at home on Nov. 1, Swinney admit that his future is uncertain.
“I may get fired today, (Clemson athletic director Graham Neff) sitting there in the back, so I don’t know, can’t say I’d blame him,” Swinney said postgame.
If Clemson isn’t committed to Swinney past this season, he could find himself coaching in the SEC.
According to a message forum on Volquest, there’s a chance Arkansas will offer its coaching job to Swinney.
“My buddy that’s a high ranking booster texted me this morning and said that’s the Arky AD and Dabo spoke in heavy conversations last night,” the post read. “Said a lot of the Clemson brass was rattled but not scared.”
This post came a week after Steve Godfrey of Yahoo Sports linked Swinney to Arkansas.

Should Dabo ditch Clemson?
Earlier this month, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum advocated for Swinney to leave Clemson behind.
“Every time I talk about Dabo, somebody takes it the wrong way. But, nobody here is suggesting Dabo Swinney be fired,” Finebaum said on the Matt Barrie Show. “I am strongly suggesting Dabo Swinney get out of there, though. It’s gotten so bad, and I hate to see a Hall-of-Fame coach act that petulant and that poorly, and I don’t have any doubt he can find a job. And, sometimes, you just have to move on.”
Swinney’s contract with Clemson runs through 2031. It’ll be interesting to see what happens this offseason.
