Who said recruiting would be a challenge for the new Penn State regime? After a shaky start to the offseason, Matt Campbell and his staff have been racking up the commitments in recent weeks. But that’s not the only thing fans should be excited about.
Four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor had committed to the Nittany Lions a little more than a year ago, but decommitted just a couple days before James Franklin was relieved of his duties. Thankfully that didn’t stop him from showing interest in the team, and now they are back in his good graces five months later.
Taylor took a trip up to Penn State this weekend and made an exciting announcement following the conclusion of his visit. The blue-chip receiver spoke with Sean Fitz of Blue White Illustrated about where his recruitment stands, telling Fitz, “I would consider them as No. 1, they’re definitely at the top of the board.”

While it sounds like like the school might get their second four-star pass-catcher from the Class of 2027 soon, things are also heating up with one of the top-ranked quarterbacks in the nation from the same recruiting class. It’s truly remarkable how quickly Campbell has shifted the recruiting narrative from a school who could have trouble bringing in even three-star recruits to a program that is attracting some of the top talent in the nation.
They haven’t secured Taylor’s commitment just yet, but his comment alone serves a massive win for this recruiting window.
