This year, USC’s spring practice began particularly early. The Trojans opened up spring ball all the way back on March 3. As a result, that means that spring football also ended early for USC this year.
On Saturday, the Trojans held the last of their 15 spring practices. Just as they did the week prior, the team practiced in the Coliseum.
Wrapping up spring practice early may have been a strategic decision by the Trojans. With spring ball now in the books, the coaching staff will have the rest of the month of April to focus on recruiting.
This is particularly notable because the NCAA’s upcoming recruiting contact period begins on April 15. During that time, coaches are permitted to go on the road and visit recruits in person. Without practices on campus to worry about, Lincoln Riley and the coaching staff will be able to spend the full period traveling the country and meeting with the top recruits in the class of 2027.
First, however, the Trojans will wrap up the spring with a fan appreciation event this coming Saturday. With USC not holding a spring game in 2026, the event will serve as an alternative opportunity for fans to take photos with and receive autographs from players.
