The Oklahoma Sooners moved up to No. 3 in Softball America’s latest rankings and to No. 2 in ESPN.com/USA Softball’s latest poll. They’ve also moved up to No. 2 in the latest NFCA coaches poll. In both coaches’ polls, the Sooners trail Texas Tech, which moved up to No. 1 after the Texas Longhorns‘ series loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Oklahoma is two games up on the Longhorns and Crimson Tide in the latest SEC standings.
Following Oklahoma is Alabama at No. 3, No. 4 Texas, and Florida State, which rounds out the top five.
The Sooners and Longhorns will put their records and rankings on the line in a top-five showdown in Austin. The series will go a long way to deciding the regular-season champion in the SEC. The Sooners swept Texas last season in Norman. The last time the Sooners were in Austin, they suffered a series loss to the Longhorns. That year, Oklahoma went on to beat the Longhorns in the Women’s College World Series national championship series.
Whatever happens this weekend, the Sooners and Longhorns are on a collision course to contend for the national title once again in 2026.
The Sooners earned one first-place vote in this week’s NFCA Coaches Poll. Texas Tech earned 26 of a possible 31, while Alabama and Texas each earned two first-place votes apiece.
Elsewhere in the polls, six SEC teams rank inside the top 10 in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division 1 Coaches Poll.
