Who gets to finally have a little fun?

Arkansas beat Arkansas State on September 6th. That’s the last, and only, win over an FBS team, and it’s been over a year since the last SEC win.

The Hogs have been fun, but it’s been brutal with five of the last seven losses by six points or fewer.

LSU is going through the super-fun post-Brian Kelly era both on and off the field.

It went from being knee-deep in the CFP and SEC chase to a rough three-game losing streak that effectively ended the season.

On the plus side, with a win, the Tigers will be bowl eligible.

Why Arkansas Will Win

The offense still works.

If anything, it perked up a bit after Bobby Petrino took over. The passing game is fine, the ground game is among the best in the nation, and overall, the attack is eighth in the country, averaging close to 500 yards per game.

And with two weeks off after the tough loss to Mississippi State, quarterback Taylen Green should be back and okay.

Meanwhile, the LSU defense picked an interesting time to go flat.

Part of that has to do with playing better competition, but the Tigers are now 0-3 when allowing close to 400 yards or more, and 1-5 when giving up more than 320.

Arkansas doesn’t get out of bed with fewer than 400 yards – it’s only been held under that mark twice, and it has yet to come close to cranking out fewer than 320.

Why LSU Will Win

Oddly enough, the running game that Brian Kelly threw such a snit about was just starting to work when he got whacked.

It didn’t do a thing against an Alabama defense that’s not quite the Alabama defense you think it is, but it was humming just before that with huge days against Vanderbilt and Texas A&M.

This is when the commitment to running it 40 times or more should pay off.

LSU might be struggling, and it might be having a hard time getting fired up after all the losing and with the wheels coming off, but …

That’s not about to stop now.

The Arkansas offense will go off. It’ll rip through the LSU defense from the start, the yards and big plays will be there throughout, and then it’ll remember it’s Arkansas, and it’ll all come apart.

Just when it seems like LSU is about to get fully booed out of the stadium, that’s when everything will come together. The passing game will click, the defense will ramp up the intensity, and it’ll be yet another brutally close loss for the Hogs.
