While the men’s basketball team is struggling with recruiting, Kentucky Wildcats football and coach Will Stein are surging. After landing top five quarterback Jake Nawrot, which was a huge recruiting win, the Cats have gotten in the mix on a number of big-time recruits, including Tristin Hughes.
Hughes is a 5’11”, 190 lb athlete who has played on both sides of the ball. However, most project him as a defensive back at the next level. He is rated four-stars, and ranks as the No. 328 player overall in 247Sports composite rankings.
Though he has recently been linked to Virginia Tech, the Rocky River, Ohio star has picked up steam with Kentucky. Allen Trieu of Rivals has now changed his prediction (subscription required) from the Hokies to the Wildcats, which would be another big win for Stein and his staff.
The Kentucky football program appears revitalized under Stein. They’re upgrading the talent level, and getting lots of attention. Big Blue Nation is ready to support a winning team, and they will get one soon if Stein continues to do what he’s doing.
