Texas A&M’s recruiting success continued on Wednesday after coach Mike Elko and his staff landed another massive commitment in four-star wide receiver Jaden Upshaw, making it the program’s sixth Top 100-ranked prospect among the program’s 12 commitments in the cycle. Upshaw, who is one of the more versatile prospects in the class, is looking ot recruit fellow 2027 wideouts, including four-star Erik McFarland.

Since the start of the new year, Elko’s focus on landing NFL-level prospects has yet to fail, as all 12 commitments are considered “blue-chip” prospects, talented enough to make an impact as soon as they hit the field during the 2027 season.

This weekend, the annual Maroon & White Game will also serve as another opportunity to host several priority recruits, led by five-star offensive lineman Mark Matthews, who arrived on campus Thursday. Right now, five-star edge Zyron Forstall leads the class, while five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey, four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry, four-star safety JayQuan Snell, four-star DL Myles Smith, paired with Jaden Upton, makes Texas A&M the only program with six Top 100-ranked commits.

This is quite the feat, given competition in the SEC, and while Mike Elko’s recruiting dominance has led to back-to-back Top 10 finishes in the 2025 and 2026 classes, the Aggies’ current No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle is on track to finish at the top, still trending to land six more Top 100-ranked recruits, including five-star cornerback John Meredith.
