Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive end and college football expert David Pollack has named his breakout player for Georgia this spring. The Bulldogs’ spring game is coming up on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m ET (ESPN+/SEC Network+).
“I got a new name for you. Zykie Helton,” Pollack said on the “See Ball Get Ball” podcast. “Remember that name. If you are a Georgia fan, remember that name.”
Pollack points to how true freshmen offensive linemen Juan Gaston and Dontrell Glover had breakout seasons for Georgia in 2025. He thinks Helton, a freshman center, could be on a similar path in 2026.
“If you are a Georgia fan and you want to win and you want to bludgeon people and be ground to pound, it sounds like this freshman, he’s your dude,” Pollack continued. “Because they say he’s mauling people in practice. Everybody I talk to, I’m like, give me a name. Zykie Helton. Everybody across the board (says Helton). Like he’s that kind of good.”
Helton is a former four-star recruit. The early enrollee has made a mark in practice and has gotten more reps this spring with All-SEC center Drew Bobo out.
Pollack thinks that Georgia has “a chance to be the best offensive line in all of college football” this year. Helton will find it tough to earn playing time as a freshman, but it he’s one of Georgia’s best linemen, then coaches will find a way to get him on the field.
