Florida football quarterback Aaron Philo was ranked 12th among all 16 SEC starting quarterbacks in position breakdown by USA TODAY Sports, written by Matt Hayes.

The piece framed Philo's situation as one of the more intriguing storylines in the conference, noting that he followed offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner from Georgia Tech to Gainesville after first-year head coach Jon Sumrall convinced Faulkner to make the move.

Hayes acknowledged the familiarity between quarterback and coordinator as the reason the pairing makes sense, but raised the question that has defined Florida's spring: Tramell Jones Jr. could still win the starting job.

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning topped the rankings as the SEC's premier quarterback heading into 2026, followed by LSU's Sam Leavitt and Georgia's Gunner Stockton.

The Gators checked in at No. 12, ahead of Kentucky, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.

Here is what Hayes said about the Gators' quarterback Philo.

What USA TODAY Sports said about Philo

"New Florida coach Jon Sumrall got OC Buster Faulkner to leave Georgia Tech, and Faulkner got Philo to leave Atlanta and follow him to Gainesville. Everyone got what he wanted, and holdover QB Tramell Jones may still win the job. Then what?"
