There’s a new No. 1 team in one of the major NCAA Softball top 25 rankings this week.

That team is the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who rose two spots to No. 1 in Softball America’s top 25 rankings on Sunday. Nebraska (36-6) has won 11 straight games entering Week 12 after a three-game sweep of Minnesota over the weekend. The Huskers will look to extend their win streak when they host the Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday.

In the SEC, the Alabama Crimson Tide (42-4, 15-3) moved into a first-place tie with coach Patty Gasso’s Oklahoma Sooners (42-6, 15-3) atop the conference standings. Alabama swept the Kentucky Wildcats over the weekend at Rhoads Stadium, in large part thanks to a thrilling three-run seventh inning rally on Saturday, while Oklahoma settled for taking two of three from a top-10 Arkansas team in Norman.

Both the Crimson Tide and Sooners suffered rare losses in midweek play to Samford and Oklahoma State, respectively. Alabama visits Tennessee (37-7) in a top-10 series beginning Saturday. Oklahoma hosts a top-15 Georgia Bulldogs (33-12) team in Norman.

Out in the Big 12, Texas Tech (42-4) wasn’t immune to the midweek bug, either. The Red Raiders were blanked, 3-0, on Wednesday night in San Marcos against Texas State. Texas Tech meets Arizona State (35-13) in Tempe for a top-25 series this weekend, as well.

Here’s a look at where Alabama softball sits in this week’s top 25 polls and national outlet rankings.
