Few teams around the country recruit defensive backs better than the Oregon Ducks. Either through the transfer portal or on the high school recruiting trail, the Ducks have brought in plenty of talent in the secondary in recent years, and they could stack even more talent with a big commitment this week.
Four-star safety Semaj Stanford has received multiple predictions from recruiting analysts to land with the Ducks. Stanford is expected to announce his decision on Thursday between Oregon, Georgia and Texas.
Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman both placed predictions on Stanford for the Ducks on Wednesday. Stanford is the No. 95 overall recruit and No. 7 safety in the country, per Rivals, out of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder would be another big win in the secondary for Oregon defensive coordinator Chris Hampton, who has led the recruitment for Stanford.

As a junior, Stanford collected 109 tackles, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. He also contributed offensively, adding 743 yards and 11 touchdowns and leading Broken Arrow to the state semifinals.
Oregon doesn’t have a pressing need for a top safety in this class, but you will never say no to a top 100 talent. The Ducks signed three safeties in last year’s class – Jett Washington, Xavier Lherisse and Devin Jackson – and already have commitments from corners Ai’King Hall and Josiah Molden in the 2027 class. The Ducks have also pulled in the top safety in the transfer portal in the last two cycles.
