Ahead of the 2026 college football season, Louisville is looking to be in the Jeff Brohm business long-term. The Cardinals are expected to give their head coach a long-term deal soon, potentially as early as Thursday.
Rumors of a Brohm extension have been circulating for months, since the 54-year-old remained firm despite reports that bigger programs were potentially looking to poach his services. Louisville is expected to make it official before the end of April, Jody Demling of 247 Sports reported.
Demling reports that Brohm is on the cusp of signing an eight-year, $64 million deal that would make him one of the highest-paid coaches in the ACC.
The deal is reportedly already done after Brohm met with athletic director Josh Heird, per Demling. The Louisville Athletic Association Board will vote on his new contract on Thursday, before it is likely to be announced.
Brohm, a Louisville alum, has been with the team since 2023, when he signed on to replace the departing Scott Satterfield. He has led the Cardinals to three consecutive winning seasons, compiling a 28-12 record since returning to his alma mater after eight years at Purdue.
Brohm’s success put him in the running for multiple high-profile head coaching vacancies during and after the 2025 college football season. He was considered a candidate for the Penn State opening after James Franklin’s firing, a job he reportedly turned down, and was mentioned as a potential option for Michigan before the Wolverines hired Kyle Whittingham.
Despite the multiple offers, Louisville is keeping its guy around for the 2026 college football season and beyond.
