Texas Tech vs Kansas State Prediction: Is the Big 12 About To Flip?
NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...
All of a sudden, Kansas State is a factor again.
After a wildly disappointing start, it turned things around, winning three of its last four games, including two straight coming into this, to get back in the mix for a bowl game.
The next two games are on the road, but Oklahoma State is up next, so win this, and it’s a mortal lock to get to six wins.
Texas Tech has fought through quarterback injuries to stay alive in the Big 12 and College Football Playoff chases, bouncing back from the tough loss at Arizona State with a 42-0 wipeout of Oklahoma State.
It gets BYU, UCF, and a trip to West Virginia to close. It won’t be easy, but this is still the best-looking team in the conference and should at least get to the Big 12 Championship.
(But BYU might have something to say about that next week.)

Why Texas Tech Will Win
Behren Morton is back.
The Red Raiders lost backup/fill-in quarterback Will Hammond after doing a great job in Morton’s place, but now the main man returns.
Morton threw 13 touchdown passes in the first three games of the season, but got banged up against Utah, worked his way back in against Houston, but hasn’t been right. He doesn’t have to carry the team – the run defense should handle most of that.
No one is running on the Red Raiders. The No. 1 run defense in America has held everyone in check, no one has rushed for more than 103 yards, and Kansas State has to run to win. So …
Why Kansas State Will Win
Avery Johnson has been terrific.
He might not be consistent, but he’s not making mistakes – just two picks this season – and he’s been on over the last three games. He doesn’t have to bomb away, but as long as the chains are moving and the Texas Tech offense is off the field, he’ll be doing his job.
It’s hard enough to hang around with Texas Tech, but make mistakes, and forget it.
Kansas State doesn’t have a turnover problem. The two it gave up in the opener against Iowa State in Ireland was it for the multiple giveaways, and it’s one of the best teams in America in penalties.
On the flip side, the Wildcats have forced 14 takeaways in the last five games, but …
Texas Tech vs Kansas State Prediction, Betting Lines
Kansas State is 0-3 when it didn’t run for at least 140 yards, and again, Texas Tech doesn’t give up anything on the ground.
Avery Johson has to take over. He has to get the passing game going from the start, and the Kansas State offense needs to match the Red Raiders punch for punch.
But Morton will pick up where he left off. The Red Raider defense will do its part up front, and the secondary won’t give up the 300 yards Johnson needs to hit to pull this off.
