Rece Davis ranks college football's top 10 teams

“College GameDay” host and ESPN college football expert Rece Davis ranked his top 10 teams entering Week 12’s college football action. Davis’ top-five rankings mirror the College Football Playoff rankings.

Davis ranks Ohio State No. 1, Indiana No. 2, Texas A&M No. 3, Alabama No. 4 and Georgia No. 5. Where Davis’ rankings differ from the playoff rankings is in the rest of his top 10.

In Davis’ AP Poll ballot, he ranks Oregon as his No. 6 team and Mississippi as his No. 7 team. He then ranks Texas Tech No. 8 and Notre Dame No. 9. Davis has BYU rounding out the top-10 following their loss to Texas Tech.

Contrarily, the playoff rankings have Texas Tech at No. 6, Oregon No. 7 and Mississippi No. 8. The playoff rankings also have Notre Dame at No. 9, but they have Texas as the No. 10 team in the country instead of BYU.

Davis does not have any Group of Five teams in his top-25, so it is unclear who he’d pick to make the playoff from the Group of Five. Davis is also quite low on the Miami Hurricanes, who he ranks No. 20. He ranks Miami 11 spots below Notre Dame, who lost to Miami (both teams have two losses).
