Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide have landed the biggest recruiting prize of the 2027 cycle, securing a verbal commitment from five-star quarterback Elijah Haven, the No. 1 quarterback in the country according to the Rivals Industry Ranking.

Haven, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound dual-threat signal-caller from Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, chose Alabama over a final two that came down to the Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs. New quarterbacks coach Bryan Ellis played an instrumental role in sealing the deal, helping push Alabama over the finish line in one of the most closely watched recruiting battles in recent SEC history.

The numbers Haven put up as a junior are staggering. He completed 240 of 332 passes for 3,931 yards and 62 touchdowns against just a handful of interceptions, while adding 794 rushing yards and 11 more scores on the ground, leading Dunham High School to a Louisiana Division III state championship, the program’s first since 2004. His efficiency metrics, a 72.4 completion percentage, 12.25 yards per attempt, and one interception every 60 attempts, are elite by any standard.

Haven is no stranger to Alabama. He visited the Tuscaloosa campus five times, including most recently for the A-Day spring game on April 11, and the Tide extended their offer in June of 2025. The Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine had favored Alabama with a 96.9 percent likelihood in the weeks leading up to his announcement, and the Tide delivered.

Haven becomes the second five-star quarterback DeBoer has signed in the last three recruiting cycles, following Keelon Russell in the 2025 class. He joins a 2027 class that already included four-star signal-caller Trent Seaborn, giving Alabama an enviable pair of QB prospects in the same cycle.

247Sports’ director of scouting Andrew Ivins summed up Haven’s ceiling best, calling him someone who has “the clay to be molded into a potential franchise signal-caller,” praising his ability to avoid pressure, make throws from multiple angles, and his elite efficiency numbers. For Crimson Tide fans starving for a quarterback of the future, this is unequivocally him.
