There might not be a hotter team on the recruiting cycle right now than the Oregon Ducks.
After a slow burn to start the spring recruiting the 2027 class, the Ducks have quickly gained steam, securing commitments recently from five-star quarterback Will Mencl and four-star safety Semaj Stanford. The Ducks have the nation’s No. 6 class and four top 100 players, per Rivals.
On the heels of a successful spring game where the Ducks hosted several of their top targets, there are no signs that the Ducks will be slowing down anytime soon. Four-star safety Kailib Dillard announced his three finalists on Monday, which include Oregon, Florida and Georgia. Dillard also announced that he will commit on May 5.

Dillard is the No. 243 recruit and No. 24 safety in the 2027 class, per Rivals. The 6-foot-2 star out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, could add some size to Oregon’s defensive back class, which currently includes corners Ai’King Hall (5-foot-11) and Josiah Molden (6-foot), as well as Stanford (5-foot-10).
Unfortunately, the Ducks appear to have some catching up to do before Dillard commits next week. Dillard was recently at Georgia’s G-Day, pushing the Bulldogs up the board in his recruitment, but multiple Rivals’ recruiting insiders, including Sam Spiegelman, placed predictions on Sunday for Dillard to wind up committing to the Florida Gators.
A spring commitment is a big deal to get a player locked in early on in the process, but the Ducks have been one of the best closing programs on signing day in recent cycles. So, even if Dillard doesn’t commit to the Ducks this spring, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Oregon could push for a flip down the line.
