MADISON – While Luke Fickell and his Wisconsin football staff have scored big on the recruiting trail this year, much of the success has come with offensive players.

On Monday, April 27, the Badgers got some help for the defense.

DJ Davis, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound safety from Middletown, Delaware, announced his commitment to UW’s 2027 class on social media.

He is the 10th player in the Badgers class, but joins outside linebacker Isaac Miller and safety Dustin Roach, both from Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, as defensive players committed to the class.

Davis received 19 Division I offers and had official visits lined up with Penn State, West Virginia and Syracuse. Davis announced March 27 that Penn State and new coach Matt Campbell re-offered a scholarship first presented by the previous staff.

Davis is considered a three-star prospect by 247sports and Rivals. He helped Middletown win state championships in 2024 and '25. He was an all-state defensive back and an all-district receiver.

The commitment comes three days after UW secured four-star quarterback Jack Sorgi and it boosts the Badgers in the national recruiting rankings.

247sports lists the Badgers class as No. 11 overall but No. 6 in the Big Ten. Rivals ranks UW 19th overall and seventh in the Big Ten.
